Sand & Salt
While the horses are the main draw to the area, our workshop location is home to over 300 species of shore birds, wading birds, waterfowl, and raptors. This is due to the fact that more than half of the island's 48,000 acres are near-shore and estuarine waters. These salt marshes, dunes, beaches and maritime pine forests provide a diversity that is able to sustain many different types of life.
Whether you enjoy photographing wild flowers, blooming cactus, rolling dunes, lush marshes, sunsets, egrets or the many hued wild horses, this trip is sure to please. Your portfolio will never be the same!

Torva Terra offers multiple options for wild horse workshops: full day, weekend and full week immersion tours. Regardless of which workshop you choose, the group size is kept small to maximize instruction time.

What is included: Hands on field instruction with award winning photographer Kate as she guides you through a tour of the barrier island’s flora and fauna.
What is not included: Travel expenses, transportation, lodging, meals, fees, etc.
What to bring: Camera, wide angle and telephoto lenses (macro if you wish), tripod, charged batteries, lots of memory cards, sunscreen, sturdy boots that can get wet/muddy, polarizing and GND filters are recommended if you plan to shoot landscapes, warm or cool clothes depending on the weather (layers are best), water and anything else that you might need when out in the field.
